Hike for Mike
If tromping in the wild woods of Surrey in the Spring air whilst raising money for charity appeals to you, then look no further than the “Holmbury Hike for Mike 2010”.
This annual walk to remember Michael is now in its third year and takes place on 11 April 2010 in the Surrey Hills around Holmbury St Mary. Anyone with a love of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is invited to arrive at 10.30 am for a 4 mile hike up and around the beautiful Holmbury Hill, with a shorter nature trail for children.
Back at Holmbury Village Hall, stalls will ensure some good old-fashioned fun with food, face painting and other old school favourites. The entry fee is a minimum donation of £5 per person or £15 for a family (payable on the door). For information or to sign up in advance (so we know how many to cater for), please contact info@michaelvarahfund.org.
Land's End to John O'Groats - Phil's Cycling Challenge
In May 2010, Phil Hughes, a friend that Michael made during his teaching days, is taking on the phenomenal challenge of cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats, in aid of the fund.
He has set himself the target of completing the route in just 10 days, which works out at 100 miles per 24hr period, and on some days, this distance is accompanied by a total climb of 9500 feet.
Such a superhuman effort should not go unrewarded, so please get behind both Phil and the MVMF. You can sponsor him via the link below:
