St Giles Trust enables offenders – called Peer Advisers – to change their behaviours and become trained professionals and provide support to others, often while still in prison. The MVMF donated £4,100 to St Giles Trust in order to provide computers for these Peer Advisers working with clients within the prisons.
The focus for St Giles Trust is on homelessness and on helping offenders resettle and change their lives, given the strong link between homelessness and offending. The Trust offers practical support around housing, training and help entering the workforce – all factors that reduce the likelihood of an individual re-offending.
It also works in the community with ex-offenders and disadvantaged people, reaching around 20,000 people a year. The charity’s aim is to create safer communities by turning lives around and preventing the children of offenders from becoming the next generation involved in the criminal justice system.
