How to apply

The funds within the MVMF are applied entirely at the discretion of the Trustees. Applications are welcome from charities or individuals in the following areas:

  • Crime prevention, with a particular focus on rehabilitation work with offenders/ex-offenders
  • Disadvantage and social exclusion, with a particular focus on youth engagement
  • Homelessness and the long-term unemployed, with a particular focus on re-training and skill building.

Amounts given are modest, ranging from £500-£2,000 in value, with one or two flagship grants of around £5,000 per annum. Where larger amounts are given, we may spread payments across a three-year funding term. Preference is given to applications where the amount sought would make the MVMF the largest or sole funder of a particular project.

Trustees meet quarterly and consider applications at each meeting, provided they are received a minimum of two weeks in advance. Applications for funding by the MVMF will only be accepted if submitted on our formal application form click here. The form must be accompanied by a copy of your most recent audited accounts and operating budget for the current fiscal year. A covering letter and an annual report/other accompanying printed or electronic literature are not mandatory but will also be accepted. For dates of future meetings, please enquire by email only to michaelvarahfund@btinternet.com

Please appreciate that we are a small, volunteer run organisation, and do not have the administrative resource to respond to every application – although we will try. If you have not had a response within six months, please assume it has not been successful. Responses to email or written enquiries may take time.
